Work clothes

Its funny how wearing “special” clothes for particular occasion puts one to particular state of mind.

For example today I experimented with wearing a shirt to a meeting with colleagues where people usually wear casual clothing. And somehow I felt differently.

The only explanation of the effect my clothing has on my performance is that what I wear communicates not only to others but also to myself.

This effect is also similar to the way the working environment influences the mood and productivity. An environment where I can feel connected to the tasks I do.

Once I actually started wearing shirts to the office until one colleague started wondering about why I do it and I guess it put me under pressure. Probably in my head I still think that I don’t deserve any nice clothes, especially is they are “nicer” than those of people around me.

But this time I’m going to stick to the plan and wear only shirts the next 10 days and see how it goes from there. Of course for the exception of hot weather and other circumstances.

It’s dangerous to make the plan too rigid, because life is always different from the plan. Maybe it’s better to define the plan a bit more flexible. Like I’m going to wear fine clothes at work, fine but suited for particular weather.

No idea how to end this entry, guess the ideas are all quite chaotic in mind and fight against each other. Anyway, fine clothe for work does make a difference!
